So! I’m planning on doing plenty of markets this Christmas, heres the Stitch City schedule for the coming weeks!
Sunday November 23rd – Rhiwbina’s Handmade Market.
This fair was so much fun last year, a great selection of makers and food stalls – tea, cake and mulled wine, and I came away with some great stuff. This years even promises to be even better!
Saturday 29th November – Cardiff Christmas Bazaar at the Abacus.
I’m really looking forward to spending the day at the Abacus and to taking part in this great event for charity. Along with some great stalls there will be live music, craft workshops and food and drink!
Sat/Sun 6th & 7th December – GIFT at Penarth Pier Pavillion
Penarth Pavillion are hosting this fantastic fair, featuring plenty of super talented makers in the beautiful surroundings of the pavillion gallery. After doing your Christmas shopping you can head to the cafe for tea or take a walk on the beach. Sounds nice!
Some of my work is currently being shown at Penarth Pavillion in the Darlunio Exhibition – a collective Illustration show featuring a variety of contemporary illustrators from around Wales.
I like to focus my work on a particular location and I really wanted to make new pieces for the exhibition so I just had to use Penarth as my inspiration! Given that i’ve lived here for a year now, this was a perfect excuse!
I was really impressed with the work of the other artists in the show, most of whom i wasnt familiar with previously. I dont have room for everyone, but here are a few of my favourite pieces (if you want to see more…. well i guess youll have to come to Penarth!)
Colin Kersley (Alternative Aethetics)
Been super busy this month, and as such, not much time for blogging. It’s amazing how working evening shifts plus trying to maintain some kind of social life can really sap away the time, so since i like to use my free shop work days for making (well, frantically stitching!) and in the evenings im either working my other job or seeing lovely mateys or family, its difficult to find time for computer based stuff such as the blog! I’m seriously looking forward to April when I’ll have a lot more time on my hands!
Ive been working on a load more earrings for the shop and im slowly going through the process of photographing them and getting them ready to list:
Ive also been working on pieces for an exhibition over at the lovely Penarth Pavillion, which will be going ahead in May:
I’m really enjoying working with fabric paint so i think ill be doing more of that in the future. Ive taken loads of pictures round Penarth too which has turned into a mini project itself, I’ll probably post them all onto the facebook page eventually.
