Customs

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great December, mine was super busy with lots of markets, it was hectic but so nice to get out and meet people and display my work after being holed up in the studio for so long!

Now that Xmas is over I can show off these custom pieces. I had some really nice presents to make for people this year – let’s hope all the recipients were happy!

Firstly this Welsh Christmas decoration – I had sold out of them already!

So! I’m planning on doing plenty of markets this Christmas, heres the Stitch City schedule for the coming weeks!

Sunday November 23rd – Rhiwbina’s Handmade Market.

This fair was so much fun last year, a great selection of makers and food stalls – tea, cake and mulled wine, and I came away with some great stuff. This years even promises to be even better!

Saturday 29th November – Cardiff Christmas Bazaar at the Abacus.

I’m really looking forward to spending the day at the Abacus and to taking part in this great event for charity. Along with some great stalls there will be live music, craft workshops and food and drink!

Sat/Sun 6th & 7th December – GIFT at Penarth Pier Pavillion

Penarth Pavillion are hosting this fantastic fair, featuring plenty of super talented makers in the beautiful surroundings of the pavillion gallery. After doing your Christmas shopping you can head to the cafe for tea or take a walk on the beach. Sounds nice!

Oceans Of Fantasy

Went to see Pete Fowler‘s exhibition in the Millenuim Centre last weekend.

Pete Fowler is one of my all time favourite illustrators. I first saw his work back in high school whilst researching for various little coursework projects. Basically this informed my decision to go into illustration after finishing school, so its a pretty big deal to see a big beautiful exhibition of his work 8 years later! It was completely awesome.

“Research”

So since starting my job (may i add FULL TIME) it has been massively difficult to get work done, in the evenings i have no motivation whatsoever after answering emails all day, so that leaves the weekend, by which time i have completely lost track of what i was doing the week before! So from now on there will be a blog post every week, mostly to remind me of what I started/finished/am in the middle of…..

So today i went down to the Bay. It has to be the most photogenic place ive lived (not that theres anything wrong with Harrow…..)

This Cormorant below will get drawn at some point, i love them.

Mount Stuart Square has some proper nice buildings, i think i’ll be working from these for a bit, i’m meant to be doing more “Welsh themed” stuff but im struggling to think of things that arent rygby/sheep/dragon related. Any suggestions would be most welcome!

Oh and this is my new desk, which i havent really used properly since i moved here……
